Week 4: Presenters Artist

I enjoyed the presentation of Tatiana Lubowski Acosta.  The story behind the picture of her in a plastic bag shows courage and strength. Knowing that she was insecure about her body as a young girl and then for her to grow up and embrace not only inner beauty but also outer beauty is uplifting. Many of the photos in the presentation were very different from what I was expecting and I feel that by her work being very revealing and exposing, she is able to tell her audience more about herself. I also really enjoy that in most of her artwork she is the only person or main person that is shown in her photo artwork and I find that to be very unique because artists, at least the artwork that I have seen, usually use objects or other people in their work. By Acosta placing herself in her work allows the audience to not only see her point of view but the story about herself.  I enjoyed this presentation because the artist has a certain style that I find to be very brave. As show in the picture where she is in a plastic bag, she uses her own language to get her point across. Acosta’s risky approach is inspirational and individualized.

Tatiana Lubowski Acosta’s skeletal image on the presidential elections was an interesting way to show her feelings towards the election. What I found that separated Acosta from the other presented artist and artist active in campaigns was the fact that she was active in the presidential election at a very young age. It amazed me because I know that when I was in high school I did not have much knowledge about the candidates to make a decision on which I saw fit.
