The artist that I chose for my presentation is Amalia Mesa-Bains. Lately I have been very interested in installation art, and with her background as a feminist I think she will fit in well with my studies in the Gender Studies department. After briefly looking at some of her work, she is definitely someone that I would like to research and learn more about. This is the blog for the UCLA Chicanx Latinx Art and Artists course offered by the Cesar E. Chavez Department of Chicanx Central American Studies (CCAS M175, also Art M184 and World Arts and Cultures M128). This course provides a historical and contemporary overview of Chicanx Latinx art production with an emphasis on painting, photography, prints, murals and activist art.
