Canizales, Alejandra
Hello everyone, my name is Alejandra Canizales and I am a 4th year transfer. I'm currently a philosophy major but upon taking my first chican@ studies course I realized this is something I want to learn more about. Growing up in the US although I was born in Mexico has always felt a bit different. My family did put a huge emphasis on the image of the virgin of Guadalupe. Being mexican and Catholic as well, we often prayed and continue to pray to her. As mentioned in class, a majority of society views the image as being a sign of protection. And although I do not c9nsuder myself to be the most religious person per say, I do keep a small symbol of her in my wallet. For some reason it helps me stay at ease.
