Chapter 3 Out of the House, the Halo, and the Whore’s Mask: The Mirror of Malinchismo
Do you think that if Chicanos considered intersectionality as an important factor, they would have been more supportive of the Chicana artists? It seems that the Chicanos were all about la causa in terms of what they found to be of importance. It seems strange to me that the Chicanos did not think that Chicana concerns were also part of their crusade. How can one fight for liberation of all Chicana/os when they’re not willing to liberate the Chicanas within the movement! However, considering their traditional form of thought, I do not think that it would be easy for Chicanos to accept the Chicana agenda.

The first question that came to mind when I read this article is: Why Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz? I think that there are some other references that would have better suited the idea of misplaced, displaced, and replaced people. But then I thought that maybe Dorothy was chosen so that people who do not have experience with this could relate to a well-known icon. I have yet to meet anyone who has not watched or at least heard of Dorothy. But I still cannot help but to wonder, what other movie icons could have been a suitable replacement for Dorothy?
