I did not have any family dinner for this thanks giving because I don’t have my own family in the United States, so instead went shopping with my friend. Therefore for this post, I drew my image of thanks giving. I imagine that thanks giving is when family members gather and have dinner together. Like the picture, family members also often make food together. Actually I have spent one thanks giving in an American family who let me stay in the house, but I do not remember what we did. But whenever the mother holds a big dinner, I was usually required to help cooking, prepare dishes, and wash dishes. So big family parties such as thanks giving seem to come with a lot of food and a lot of washing and cleaning. But definitely it is an important event when family gather and share the pleasant time. The importance of gathering in family or community is what Carmen Lomas Garza describe in her arts as well. In Japan, there is no thanks giving as the season when the most families gather together is New Year. But whatever forms the events are, those special dates would be important, necessary, or convenient for those people who live far away to have chance to spend time together.
