Garza thanksgiving

My Thanksgiving was a last minute get together for me. My family was all together up north in the Bay Area and because of school and work I had to stay in Los Angeles. It was a little bit sad to be without my family. All I really expected was to get off of work and just to go get a donut and call it a night but my good friend Julia insisted I come join her and her boyfriend for a relaxing evening watching football and drinking wine. I decided to put on my party dress and stop having a pity party for myself. This is my Carmen Lomas Garza depiction of my friends-giving. On the far left is Julia, I'm in the middle and Shane, her boyfriend,  is on the right. The Bears and Packers were playing and I am from Chicago while Shane is a Packers fan, so we had a great evening chatting and playfully teasing each other about the other team. Overall it was such a lovely evening eating takeout Thai food, drinking wine and champagne, watching football and being each others family away from family. I am a lucky girl, with loving friends.

  1. Roxanne,
Your drawing is beautiful, and I love the color choices that you used. I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't join your family in the Bay Area, but that's great to see that you had thanksgiving with friends, and made a wonderful drawing out of the experience you had. Don't forget, friends are family too! :)

  2. Roxanne,
This art piece is so fun! I love the colors as well, and the details you used to draw your friends and yourself. In the end, thanksgiving is spending time with loved ones and I think you portrayed that effortlessly
