Thanksgiving

For my Carmen Lomas Garza inspired piece I drew a picture of me and my aunt sitting next to her fireplace with lit candles surrounding us.  I still need to add color.  This unfinished picture is the day before thanksgiving, the most relaxing day of the week.  I visited my aunt for Thanksgiving and during the nights I would light the fireplace and draw for this class while she would watch TV or read on the couch.  They always have candles lit at their house, and the fire added a relaxed vibe to the house, especially with the soothing noise of the cracking of burning wood.  I am thankful that I was able to get a relaxed piece of mind before Thursday.  On Wednesday night I was waiting for my mom to arrive, and waiting by the fire made me feel  very serene and calm.
I am thankful that my mom and cousins were able to drive 6 hours south to visit us for the holiday, that was a big sacrifice on their part.  It was nice having them come south since for most holidays I am the one who travels on the bus to visit them on the holidays.  I am thankful to have a family that comes together for the holidays.
