Judith Baca

Judith F. Baca is a well known Chicano mural artist. One og her pieces that was not a mural but an oil painting is “Tres Deneraciones” (1973). The painting is of Baca’s grandmother, mother, and herself. The art takes a close look at how generations are related and connected.There are many colors used to represent each  women. The biggest most prominent women on the canvas is Baca’s grandmother. She is clearly identifiable by taking most the right side. Baca’s use of distance and size in her art lets the viewer see the matriarchy and respect of her family The sky is full of many colors and swirls.This could represent time passing and change. Baca portrays herald as a child who is smiling, yet colored blue. There connection is clearly depicted though the messing and swirling of colors and bodies towards the bottom of the painting.
