Ochoa, Adilen (Adi)

Hello everyone my name is Adilen Ochoa but I prefer to be called Adi. I am a 4th year psychology student. My preferred pronouns are she/her/hers. I wanted to take this class because I have never really taken the time to explore my creative side and also to learn more about Chicana artists. I remember breaking away from my typical psychology courses and taking a Chicana Historiography class and I loved it!  My version of art has always been stick figures! So take it easy on me. I’m a first generation college student and I grew up in Torrance, California.
Some of my interests include dogs(I have a fur baby of my own which I will probably talk about A LOT), reading, and I enjoy making puns and terrible dad jokes.
I also work as a tutor and another interest of mine includes child development and working with children who are at risk. Growing up in a large family with limited resources my parents really pushed the importance of education on me, but a lot of the time children do not get that type of support at home. I see it firsthand with the tutoring kids I have and so any way in which I can help them I try.

Ultimately I’m looking forward to the things we will learn and discuss in this course and maybe even being able to implement these things into my current life. Whether it be sketching(maybe I'll discover some hidden skills), these blog posts, or letting my tutoring kids get a glimpse at everything I’ve learned.
