HUERTA, LETICIA (Abstract for ALIZE BASULTO IBARRA)

LETICIA HUERTA STUDIO, http://www.leticiahuerta.com/

On Leticia Huertas home page, we encounter many areas that her work is displayed at such as; transportation stations, parks, bridges, public buildings, as well as her projects in progress and her résumé.

It is known that Leticia as such a talented artist, often incorporates  tile, glass, metal, concrete, Terrazzo, and paint for her art making it that more unique.

From the metros, to the bus stations, each transportation station with her artwork plastered on the walls or on the ceilings, has a meaning to it. For example the trees and flowers in the Ingram bus transit center that was built in 2018 with powder coated steel and vinyl

Was an inspiration to her from the   surrounding scenery as well as an incorporation of children at play.

Along with art and paintings that have meaning, Letitia has also had sculptures like “Bloom “placed in McAllister Park at mud Creek Trail in 2019.

It is surprising to me to recognize that even the layout on a sidewalk is created by someone artistically such as that of the Isaac streetscape and bus shelter project completed in 2009 in Phoenix Arizona with concrete pavers, porcelain, tile, steel, and power coating.

This artwork comes from the inspiration of a river as water is such a pivotal asset in Arizona.

Some of the bridges she has worked on is “Cowboy Dreams “in trail drivers park bridge.

It was completed in 2019 using stain concrete and glass tile inner commemoration of the history of the trail drivers park that surrounds it and the cattle that still goes through the park till this day.

Leticia‘s resume focuses around children, the power an act of healing, rising, San Antonio stories, and much more. While being an amazingly talented artists, she is a unique one at that, that can incorporate what you hand her into a sculpture or painting.
