Voyage LA is an online platform that supports local artists, businesses, and more in the Los Angeles area. They interviewed Toletca by asking personal questions such as inspirations, background, and struggles. Tolteca was inspired by her identity of being a Chicana to style her paintings. Her struggles of being a Chicana artist were difficult to overcome due to the lack of Latinx artists to follow. According to Voyage LA, Toletca became heavily involved in her art when Viva Oxnard, a local Oxnard community organization, asked for a commission piece that would later be transformed into 500 coloring books given to the students of Oxnard.
