Week 4 Rasquachismo Brenda Barrios

 Rasquachismo described by Tomas Ibarra- Frausto is a word was defined as an Attitude is seen as a sort of way of repurposing and using one’s resources and described as an underdog. And also refers to those of “Los de Abajo” and it’s interesting because when I think of repurposing I remember my mom reusing milk cartoons for water jugs and also using cookie trays as then sowing kits and I always remember reusing things and materials to make use out of them. And to that is something that is homely and it is interesting that this term is then referred to as something at the bottom lo Abajo. Domesticana is not domestic and opposite of machismo. And I sort of connecting with this term since I would be considered going against the norms with my career and life choice. To conclude I think it is interesting that Rasuachismo is described as something negative and positive at the same time because I find it fortunate to experience reusing as a way that is now encouraged with the no waste community when many Latinx families already incorporated it in their family.
