BRENDA BARRIOS Week 6 Xandra Ibarra

Xandra Ibarra, I would consider as a multi-disciplinary artist who is also queer and an activist in the website shows various artists such as performance, sculpture, and video, and I immediately was drawn to the performance sculpture sections as her photography /performance of skin less appearing as the human skins are being stretched across and seen as connecting each other with this material that appears as skin. I also like the piece ashes of Feminist of color texts burning of these color text symbolically with the television flames and also shows Gloria Anzadula which I have read some of her texts La Frontera which is something I feel many Latines can now connect to. And I feel connected that many universities don’t diversify their theory nor do they prioritize showing different theory writers.

Ibarra uses her performance and art to express herself aware vulnerable various times so I wonder how Ibarra chose what her next artworks and topics to do or capture. Lastly, I would also want to mention how I think it’s interesting how all the different names are unique and really give you a sense of the art without fully naming the context.
