Dalila Mendez is a first generation Guatemalan/Salvadoran artist who was born and raised in Los Angeles.

Her artwork combines both contemporary images with sacred references to indigenous iconography, folklore, and knowledge. Dalia investigates the ways in which looking to ancestry can help fix modern issues. I am very interested in tradition, it's histories, and how people follow it/reinforce it in the modern day. I am also very interested in Dalila as an artist due to the fact she is an artist of many mediums such as painting, printmaking, film, and photography. I am excited to explore the various forms of art she has created and how she deploys similar themes through the diverse range of mediums.

Julia, this is an interesting artist, however the selected artist needs to be a Chicana (or Latina) artist. Prof. Lopez
