It was an absolute pleasure being in Professor Lopez’s class for the second time. I really enjoyed the positive energy of this class and the great discussions and comments people made. Prior to this class I had some idea about the work of Chicana artists, but this class exposed me to artists I never knew about which is really nice. Having to present a Chicana artist for our presentation pushed me to personally research for different Chicana art and artists that weren’t necessarily on the list we were given. Doing my own research led me to finding a relatively unknown and extremely talented Chicana artist, that I’m now a fan of. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to share her work with everyone else and I hope everyone thought her work was as interesting as I thought it was. Drawing in our sketchbooks was a highlight for me because it was something that pushed me out of my comfort zone. I don’t consider myself to be very artistically inclined and although I’ve painted before, I wasn’t too excited to work with pencil drawings because I find that to be more difficult than working with paint. I guess it all turned out pretty good, with a little patience and an eraser I was able to pull off some pretty decent hands and self- portrait. Doing this kind of stuff inspired me to draw more, I think if I practiced I can get a lot better and start a small business selling paintings or drawings… gonna need to make some $$$ to pay off my loans when I graduate 🤷🏻♀️... Just kidding! ..lol… I will definitely not be doing that. I just want to say Thank you Professor Lopez for a great and inspiring Spring Quarter!😎
