Rasquachismo is less of an art style and more of the attitude behind the piece, even then it does not always have to do with art. Raquachismo is akin to resourcefulness, it is cheap in its value but grand in its results- mostly because it works out for cheap. It is the idea that you have to make do with what you got; it's the idea that you have to make the best out of your situation; it is the way of the working class. The word had a bad connotation in the same manner that the term Chicano did, however during the same time that Chicano was being reclaimed (during the Chicano movement) so was the word rasquchismo. What I got from the reading was that the term "rasquache", before being reclaimed, was simply another way to other Chicanos and other people of color. It was inherently classist. Rasqauchismo is ingenious in a Chicanx's ability to rework what others would consider garbage.
Domesticana is the Chicana rasquache. Chicana artist used domesticana as a form of retaliation not only against the Anglo imposed society but the patriarchal attitude of el movimiento. The influences introduced into these pieces were often those of the church, the home, and the community, all of which often had an established hierarchy in which Chicana women were the victims of oppression. Domesticana was an artistic resistance in a similar manner to rasquache, however domesticana acted against the carnalismo of el moviemento and not just the racism that affects Chicanos.
Both raquache and domesticana were forms of artistic resistance, as well as societal resistance. The practice of rasquache within the art world demonstrated that formal art education of renaissance style of art were not the only way to go about creating it. It seems to me that both of these attitudes fall underneath the same umbrella, it is simply a matter of niche.
