Week 3 Falcon,Joan

My favorite image from Yolanda Lopez was  When You Think of Mexico a video cover case. This meant a lot to me because it shows the stereotypes that people have towards Mexico and show their lack of cultural knowledge. This image showed that people will throw in a mustache on a short man, maracas, a sombrero to depict Mexican culture but in reality they do not know what a real Mexican culture is. You see this everyday because when you meet someone who has never interacted with Mexican culture and if you hang out with them most likely the first thing they'll think of you is corridos and tacos but fail to realize theres more music available and more food. You see this in gentrified Mexican restaurants/bars like 'Cabo Cantina' owned by white owners, ran by white people, cooks are mexican, and the decorations are mexican hats, music instruments, mustaches and beer all around as if thats what Mexican culture is all about.
