The collage work named Eclipse by Yolanda M. Lopez is a work that shed light Chicana women's "hybridity and multiplicity" as I quote from the book. Three types of women are clearly shown here. The idealized virgin of Guadalupe that sybolizes perfection is at the bottom right. The ordinary mother that is brith feeding her child is at the bottom left, where as the running women on the upper right. The work carries the idea of traditional Chicano's expectation of a perfect woman and the ordinary woman that serves them as obidient wives and give birth to child. However, the running women stands in for a new type, a type that withheld her own right to be strong and independent.
Some smaller ideas also relating to the topic are presented here such as that the Guadalupe's dress is cutt off because Lopez considers them burdersome and confining which limites the virgin's movements. On the other hand, the Guadalupe encompasses the eclispe of Jupitar which alreday touch upon the horizon and is alreday dissapearing which indicate the uselessness of traitional expectations towards Chicana's embodided by Guadalupe's for real ordinary women to achieve justice and freedom.
