To be completely honest, I initially enrolled in this class because I had previously met professor Lopez when she was a guest speaker in professor Gaspar de Alba's class when I first started UCLA. I talked to her a few times and thought she was really nice. When I have seen her name on a Chicana art class, I decided to check her out just to add to my degree. I never thought that it would teach me life-changing ground rules. I really thought this class was only going to be about learning how to draw. After the first day of learning what the course would be about, I was very excited. As time passed, I began to get more familiar with the style of learning and researching. I was amazed by how she made the research fun. I really appreciated the type of teaching this class was. I learned about many Chicana Artist that I would have never known of. I was satisfied with learning new and special techniques on how to draw and believe in myself enough to become more creative. I understood the lectures well and enjoyed the presentations. The style of teaching this course offered was different because everyone had to dig for research on one artist and then present. I am sure even the professor learned from us about new artists. Also, I would like to add that I really appreciated the understanding of all the personal problems that I was dealing with. This was one of the 2 classes I kept because the professor and TA were sympathetic to my situation. Thank you for a great quarter. I have taken so much more from this class then I had thought I would.
