Week 10- Blog Post

I am pleasured to take this art class in my last quarter because it is more interesting than I expected and I really learned lots of information of Chicano/a Artist and discover my talent of drawing. Before I taking this class, I know very little about Chicano/a Artist except Kahlo Frida and Diego Rivera, but after listening professor's lecture and the classmates' presentation, I had known most of Chicana artist and their background and each motivation to be a artist or their passion to create a art work. To be honest, I really appreciate with those Chicana artist who try to identify their Chicano identity even they already leave their homeland for many years and resisted in the United State for a long time, or some Chicana artist who born in the U.S. and traveled around the world as Linda Vallejo, even they are not born or raised in Mexico or other countries from Latin America, they still learn, respect, protect their own culture, they are also proud to be a Chicano/a. I appreciate this mindset because many Chinese Americans who were born in China but have traveled to other countries or grew up in America since childhood lack a deep understanding of their own culture and identity. Instead, they choose to abandon Chinese culture out of shame, refusing to be considered as "Chinese" instead of American.
Lastly, I also enjoy to finish the drawing assignment every week, I have not painted for a long time. I used to like painting very much when I was in primary school. However, because my parents wanted me to focus on one aspect of art cultivation, I chose music between painting and music. But this class helped me regain my confidence and love for painting,
