Hi! My name is Alize Basulto Ibarra (she/her) and I'm a 3rd year PolSci major and hoping to soon add on a pub aff minor. Don't be fooled, I've actually only been at UCLA, one year. Long story short, I graduated high school with my AA, so I could say I'm a transfer? But I am really not? Difficult to explain! I am from a rural town in the middle of the central valley by the name of Coalinga- about an hour away from Fresno; but I am at home this quarter continuing my studies online while I work.
I am very interested in law, although I am not sure what aspect, hence my choice to do prelaw. I was in and out of courtrooms when I was young so I imagine that's where my passion aspired from. On the other hand, I don't have a reason for choosing pub aff as a minor other than I need a certain amount of UCLA units to accumulate and it seems agile to spend a year and a half taking classes that won't count towards anything besides meeting the minimum 180 credits to graduate.
Starting university last year in the middle of the pandemic has by far been the most challenging task to accomplish thus far, but I managed and continue to do so.
I am from Jalisco and Michoacán- %100 Mexican and when I saw a chicano class was offered at UCLA I jumped at the opportunity to work with brilliant students with similar backgrounds as myself!
I am ecstatic to get to know you all and work together in understanding different aspects of our culture!
I wish you all a great quarter and hope to get to meet some of you when it is safe to fully- be back on campus!
