Hovhannisyan, Gagik (week 5, Lomas Garza)

This picture by Lomas Garza is called “Tamalada”.  In this picture, you could see a traditional big Hispanic family with people all over the place.  Tamalada is another word for the process of making Tamales.  Tamales is a Mexican traditional dish.  You can see how the people are so excited and how everyone is making their contribution with at least three generations occupied with each progression of tamale making. In the frontal area, we see a young lady holding corn husks previously they're splashed by the three grown-ups close to her - potentially her granddad, mother, and more established sister or cousin. To one side of this bunch, eight all the more relatives accumulate around the table, the majority of them are stuffing the corn husks with the tamale filling be that as it may, one lady, reasonable the grandma, fills a holder to heat them in. There's additionally one tricky fella out of the way in a green shirt tasting the filling - there's on in each gathering who can hardly wait until the end! Behind the scenes there's a man in the kitchen entryway holding a little kid's hands as she remains on his feet, potentially keeping her far removed - it's logical her sister who is playing on the floor with the husks in the frontal area, her truck also, doll forgotten with all the fervor around her. While this piece isn't about a particular occasion, we can feel the warmth and feeling of home that many individuals partner with the season. Cara's specialty making was enlivened by that of her grandma and mother, and she depicts that familial connection of showing customs in this print; a memory taken from her own life. It's not difficult to envision the energetic discussions occurring around the table as kin, cousins, and grandparents trade stories read a clock and time once more. We can hear the scratching of spoons and rising of water as the tamales are built, Garza even shows the fire of the gas burner lit, similar as the other natural occasion hints of a blender making treats or blades cutting a turkey.
