Reflect on at least one artist or concept you learned about in this course
Throughout the span of 10 weeks, you wouldn’t imagine that you could learn so much. I began this class with no prior knowledge to what a articulate course of Chicanx and Latino culture was. I am Latina and I am fairly involved in the culture but I never seen it from a 3rd eyes point of view. Since the beginning I saw amazing artists like Isabel Castro, Leticia Huerta, Carmen Lomas Garza, Xandra Ibarra, Claudia Zapta, Ruby Chacon, and Jeaneen Carlin, and many other great artists! We have also researched many aspects of our culture like rasquachismo and figures like La Virgen de Guadalupe.
When you don’t think that there’s more to learn about your culture and you begin to learn more it is very much a cultural shock!
Focusing on one artist is such a difficult task when we had so many, but I would like to focus today on Leticia weather, the artist that I have chosen for my Wikipedia article. Working with Huerta and analyzing and researching her art has been a great journey that I have appreciated far more than I believed I would!
Leticia Huerta is a articulate artist with different styles that bring meaning to life with her art! She’s an artist that will bring great change to the world and I am ecstatic to see it.
From creating her own website and interacting with her fans, she has created beautiful pieces like prayer in 2001 bloom in 2019 and cowboy dreams in 2019.
She is very much present in the San Antonio Texas area and continues to create artwork to be displayed in San Antonio. She is an aspiring artist that I am excited to see on a global stand one day!
