week 8 presentation post

I was interested in so many artists we learned this quarter and found them all appealing. Especially learning artists classmates presented made it even more difficult to choose just one artist for this blogpost.

For this blog post I choose muralist and artist Ruby Chacon who is an artist from Utah. Her works resonated with me and also the fact that Chacon produces murals is exciting to see. Chacons works are large scale and in one of her many works is a portrait of an older man. This piece is large scale in and it's a close up cropped image of a man. In many of Chacons portraits or works representing figures you're able to see the expression and the forms and rendering and shading. What was intriguing about Chacons work is not only the fact that it's large scale but also the variety in colors that are chosen. You are able to see a lot of different colors on the face, for instance there are visible greens and yellow and pinks on the face. There is vibrancy and sparkle to these works and all of the portraits look like people I have met before and they are very personable. I really like the mural with the native representation and the sun in the center states“I imagine” it's a powerful image.
