2021 Ayala, Jesus week 5

My experience with the Virgin de Guadalupe has been a minimal one. As a child/kid, I was raised catholic and because of that I did my first community, but the Virgin de Guadalupe wasn't really talked about much from what I can remember. I am much more familiar with the Virgin Marry and how she gave birth to a son named Jesus, but not the Virgin de Guadalupe. Not until recently, honestly, is when I read about how she appeared to Juan Diego and requested a temple to be built in her name. As a kid and teenager growing up I would see pictures and statues of the virgin but didn't know the story or the history behind her. Also, I know it's a tattoo that a lot of the Brown community get, because I've seen it with my eyes, but I don't know what the significance behind it is. Maybe it's because they believe in religion or because it's part of a tradition. Besides that, I really didn't know or don't know much about her. I'm grateful for this course because It made me read a little more of her significance and the many experiences many Chicano artist have of her. I almost forgot, I've heard that many people celebrate her and if I'm not mistaken dedicate a holiday or day to her.
