I attended the Dia de Los Muertos event at Olvera St.  I enjoyed it very much and the alters were absolutely beautiful.  They had many performers from mexica dancers, to skeleton children ballet dancers.  The colors were beautiful and traditional marigold flowers were used throughout.  I am glad that extra credit was offered because it gave me extra motivation to go see the event.  It was an empowering experience as a chicana and it was especially moving because I lost my grandfather this past year.  I also got to experience a family alter of a friend which was very special.
