Cañada, Julisa Marie

Hello! My name is Julisa Marie Cañada. I am from Oxnard, California. I have three sisters and one brother. I also have a furbaby named Rosie who I am very much obsessed with. I am a transfer student and this is my last year as an undergraduate. I am majoring in Sociology and minoring in Chican@ Studies. I am hoping to get my MSW and will be in the process of applying to schools this fall. I took this class because I think that it is different from other courses that I have taken so far and I love that we actually get to create our own art. My sister is an artist so I have some interest in learning how to draw and paint.

I did not grow up with any important icons. It was not until I was older that I even knew about the Virgin of Guadalupe and when I did go to Catholic Sunday School they did not have any icons that they praised specifically. I have always thought that images were not supposed to be created of religious figures especially when it came to Jesus. However, my Mom did have angel figurines in the house but they have no significance to me personally.
