Out of the House, the Halo, and the Whore's Mask:The Mirror of Machismo.

Questions for Gaspar de Alba:

1.From time to time we have seen feminist movements, What do you think is missing from this movements that haven't fully evolve society to see women as an equal to men?
As I was reading through the essay "Out of the House, the Halo, and the Whore's Mask:The Mirror of Machismo"  I realize the variaty of meaning and tittles for different movements and how people can be identify as feminist, liberal feminist, marxism feminist, chicana lesbian feminist, radical feminist and many more that got me to think the on the relation of movements with this titles. Throughout time we came to identify individuals in the feminist movement and this title serve the purpose of emphasizing the boldness in believe towards the purpose of feminist movements throughout history. I believe that we slowly are seeing a change in society and views about recognizing women as an equal to men, but we are missing a strong foundation in a lot aspects in society, programs, schools, and even within families. Attaining the goal of being seeing as equal to men is very challenging since our society primarily was founded with patriarcal beliefs and everything derive from the perspective of men. Since the bible, the constitution and even in sciences. Its going to take more than just a strong foundation to break through this barriers that keep many women in the shadow, but from time to time and thanks to this movements we are awaking women throughout time to stand in the belief that women are equal to men no matter their particular characteristics.

2. In the Chicano Art Movement we see many paintings and photos capturing/exposing the Mexican culture in different ways of representation like Chicana,Adelitas,Mexicanas,Pachucas, Mexican-America and so many more, How does this helps to break through patriarcal beliefs? In the essay mention " After thirty years of conflict, contradiction, and hard work, ,feminist have devise several feminisms: some like liberal feminism, Marxist feminism, and radical feminism". This tells me that education on feminist theories have change over time and develop new ways of approaching this ideals that bring us to separate art representation like the one mention in my question. Art representation of women help break through patriarchal by educating our communities and enhancing women worth through programs. This Art let us know how far we come and what we need to make a total change in the communities.
