Blog Post Week 8: Favianna Rodriguez
I am choosing to do my blog post this week on Favianna Rodriguez. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend class during most of the presentations due to being annoyingly sick. Favianna Rodriguez really caught my attention because as a Chicana Artist, she incorporates real life issues and situations into her work. This piece in general stood out a lot as the image says "Stop The Deportation", which illustrates a mother with a child in her arms. I think it is important to understand the essence of human life and the meaning of family, regardless of if one is a immigrant or not. Her work is very liberal and empowering as she is not afraid to show the images as it is. I think her artwork is important as she displays important issues throughout these mini depictions with a small statement below. In general, her work is very motivational, inspiring, and empowering as she isn't afraid of dealing with transnational and global issues. After viewing her work, I was very inspired by how she directs an organization that allows artists and writers to engage in migrant rights by bringing light to the subject throughout images such as this one.
