Carmen Lomas Garza plays very close attention to detail in her paintings and works. In my drawing, I incorporated the thanksgiving table from my family gathering this year. I did not draw my self in the image, because this Thanksgiving was hard to enjoy or rather let alone be present for since a lot of my assignments were due the next morning. My family has a tradition of roasting s'mores on our fire pit outside as an addition to our dessert table. While roasting Marshmallows, were able to communicate as a family and actually spend time with one another. Our daily lives become so hectic that sometimes holiday's such as Thanksgiving are really needed so that we can spend time with our loved ones. While we sit outside by the fire pit we play games and say riddles. I was very happy to be able to enjoy just being with my family for those couple of hours. I did not draw myself or my family in the picture because, the absence of individuals being drawn shows the disconnect I experienced this Thanksgiving, but that it is okay because that is the life of being a student!
