Week 9: Carmen Lomas Garza
The image is really hard to see, but it's a drawing of my family eating during Thanksgiving. My step-father was the cook and takes it seriously so if you weren't helping in the kitchen, you were in his way! Thanksgiving is not a really serious event at my grandfather's house. We usually separate and watch, like, The Twilight Zone marathon in another room and gather when it's time to eat. This year we started something new. Before eating, everyone around the table said what they are the most thankful for. After that, the room is quiet except for the sound of everyone stuffing their faces with juicy turkey, ham and mashed potatoes! We then have pumpkin and apple pie during dessert. On the bottom corner is my dog who we bring over all the time. He's enjoying a little bit of ham and bits of turkey with the family. Again, it's hard to see, but I am the second one on the far right between my brothers. My brother and I usually mess around during holidays because we don't see each other a lot anymore. The only relative on my mom's side who came over was my 89 year old Mexican grandma who can't hear so we shout every time we converse with her. There were more people, but they were outside and I didn't have room to squeeze the patio in the picture.
