Thanksgiving

This is what I drew to represent my Thanksgiving Carmen Lomas Garza style. Thanksgiving was extra special this year because I had some of my family from Mexico come to join us. It was a very packed house to say the least, but it was worth it because it is very rare that my family from Mexico gets to visit us, especially during the holidays. Thanksgiving is very special to my family and I because it brings us all together. We all do our part in preparing the meal and we all give thanks and share a prayer before we feast. Carmen Lomas Garza focuses a lot on detail so in my picture I wanted to include small details such as the Virgen de Guadalupe hanging in the living room. I chose to draw this picture from an overhead view from the right corner like Carmen Lomas Garza has done in some of her works and I found that adding the small details and drawing the people is the most difficult part. I am not yet finished as I want to add color and more detail. I also hope to emphasize the importance of family and tradition like seen in Carmen Lomas Garza's works because these images serve as a documentation of memories.
