Presentations: Jeaneen Carlino

A particular Chicana artist that caught my eye was Jeaneen Carlino. She stood out to me because her art displayed images of females with mystical powers. Her art was made out of pastel colors, the colors pink and purple, in a way representing female entity. Most of her art contains characteristics of anthropomorphic mystical powers which is very appealing to me and it is nice to look at. Most of her artwork entail of women possessing these characteristics, I think that in a way she combines Goddess culture to create her own. She creates her own creatures that are female entities but with supernatural powers, to celebrate the fact that women do hold these powers, but in unique ways. Women have amazing capabilities and authority. Most of her art is a diverse realm of women. Furthermore, she also creates artwork of that depict the power of nature.

An art piece of hers that caught my eye during lecture was Invasion of Narf. The colors are striking and the women who seem to be warriors are attacking the life-sized insects. The women seem to be winning the invasion due to their incredible strength and abilities. This depicts how women are warriors even though in the media women are not portrayed as such. The women are depicted in Jeannen Carlino artwork show how women are incredibly powerful. Furthermore, Jeannen Carlino's artwork is just beautiful, mainly because it's so colorful and it's drawings of women. It stood out to me because it was just nice to look at and the fact that she has this common theme of mystical powers and Goddesses is very prolific.
