Hi! My name is Johanna Patricia Medina, my pronouns are
she/her/hers. I am a transfer from Glendora Community College. I have lived
most of my live in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley). Both my parents are from Mexicali,
Baja California. IT IS HAWT OUT THERE!! I consider myself a Chicana. I am a
Sociology and Chicana & Chicano Studies double major. I eventually want to
be a social worker and change lives for the better! I am a mother x 2 and very
proud of it! I love my family and I look forward to sharing my newfound
knowledge with my son and daughter as they grow into their own little persons.
I am very excited to be taking this course so that I may broaden my knowledge
about Chicana and Chicano artists. I have seen many examples of Chicana/o art,
but I would like to know the name of the artists and would love to learn how
activism, culture, gendered expectation, and more, all play a role in the
artist's motive on the artwork. I am a visual learner and learning about
the work will help provide some reinforcement to my growing pool of expertise
on El Movimiento.
I hope that this course provides some extra background on El
Movimiento since Expressive Arts is one of my chosen caminos in my Chicana/o
Major. I am very excited to dust my drawing and painting skills; it’s been a
few years since I actually sat down and expressed myself artistically.
You all look lovely in your pics, but I won’t be posting one. I am
the only visibly pregnant woman in the classroom.
