Britney Garibay (TBD- present day) is a self-identified Chicana artist specializing in her Mexican culture and political issues such as immigration rights. Her pieces demonstrate common motivations, themes, and hardships that live in the Latino community, one of them being how the “American Dream” is being seeked. Through different use of mediums such as acrylic paint, ink, charcoal, and recycled material, Garibay is able to represent powerful messages that the latino community can relate to or call attention to important issues in society and politics. 


Biography (or Early Life and Education)

Britney Gairbay, a first generation Mexican American, was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Her art began taking off as a freshman in the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. However, once her stepfather was deported when she was in 8th grade, she allowed her passion to express the importance of immigration rights as it had a large impact in her own life. She is currently enrolled at Rhode Island School of Art and Design, a very prestigious art school as she continues to grow as an artist and spread awareness on issues that are large in the Latino community.
