For my stencil this week I want to make a piece that pays homage to my home life. I was thinking of incorporating my grandmas love for embroidering things and art and also my dog! I love my dog. I have a few images I can use. Her name is Canela and so I think incorporating an image of a dog into some of the tools she would use for needle point would really illustrate me as a person.
My dog is an important part of my life. I know it sounds crazy to some people but not only has she helped me through hard times in life she also helped bring my family closer.
Using my grandma also as inspiration I think her needle point artworks are something so special and unique just to her. Sometimes she makes us pillowcases with special designs and surprises us with handmade items. I know she doesn't think of herself as an "artist" but I think she truly has talent. She's made pillowcases, blankets, curtains, basically anything you can use to decorate your house my grandma has found a way to somehow make it. She's one of the strong women in my life who I admire.
I have not started designing it as of yet, but I can include a picture of Canela. (I am going to start on it I swear! I just don't want my blog post to be late. Once I start I'll edit it and try to add the image later. Promise)
Here is Canela :)
Obviously I am not the best artist so I had to scale down my ideas. So I included my sketchbook design part of my stencil! It's Canela, but it's her silhouette in the center.
