Week 10 (Sadly!)
I joined this class after enrolling extremely late due to change in major. It really seemed interesting and I was pleasantly pleased when I found out that we were assigned art homework. Like literals art!! I am in no means an art major, I major in political science, but I was so excited to do something that I enjoyed in class for once. The class surprised me in the fact that I felt it had more emphasis on Chicana artist than Chicano Artist. This honestly was no problem, I thought its was fun to get to know about new artist. Something that was also very enjoyable was the fact that we were allowed the chance to learn about different art forms but we were not forced to remember small facts about it. I feel like in other classes they force the students to pay closer attention to the dates rather than giving them the chance to appreciate the artwork. I also liked how all the artist had varying artworks but all were so good at proving similar points. These women were pioneers in calls for social justice and shifts in. gender norms. I really also very much enjoyed the artist presentations that we were blessed with in the previous weeks. These artist were my favorite to learn about because they had artwork I actually enjoyed. The other artist work I didn't really feel as much but the presented artist really had some stunning pieces. I found I enjoy bright vidid pieces over black and white. I also do not enjoy installations as much as paintings or graphic works.
