Yolanda Lopez, a Chicana artist, has lots of great works of art. One of the pieces of art Yolanda Lopez painted was one of herself running through her college campus of UC San Diego. In this image, we can see a young woman running but what's most interesting to me is the facial expression in her face as well as the stride she is taking. I know that when I would run, I'd feel like I was gliding through the air and I can experience the same feeling when looking at the art.
However, I know that in order to get to this amount of stride, a person has to be persistent to eventually feel the freedom when running; feeling the air hitting your face and the sweat cooling you all at the same time. In her works of art that were previous to this one, Lopez shows how when she was just starting to run, it was a struggle. I think we can all relate to that. My New Years resolution was to exercise more, #fail. But with the struggle, I enjoy this image because it shows how someone can triumph when they put their minds to it. This analogy not only serves for physical activities, but also to everyday challenges.
One of my challenges was continuing my education. I was able to achieve this and felt my stride when I was accepted to my school, UCLA. All things are possible when we put our minds to it and know what our goal.
