Week 10

 Final Thoghts

It was very interesting to learn about the different Chicana artists and their work. One thing that I found most interesting was the lecture on La Virgen because even though I was born in Mexico and raised Catholic, I feel that there are many aspects of the religion that I don't fully understand. The idea that La Virgen was used as a way for indigenous peoples to survive the massacre after the Spaniards arrived to Mexico, was very new to me. As an adult I thought of La Virgen as a made up story by the church. I would like to do more research on the subject. Also, I realized how much I've assimilated the American culture to the point that I feel a stranger to much of my own culture. In the future I wan to continue to esplore thse subjects of identity, assimilation and rituals.
