 Chicana Futurism

 

This reading made me think about who has access to technology, why, and who decides who is capable of not only understand it but be part of its ever changing state. Also, what forms of technology are deem note worthy. Given the fact that before the arrival of the Spaniards to Mexico, natives had had build complex hydration and recycling systems. technology which is not often talked about in western history. In this the author attempts to present a different Chicana, one that understands and participates in the development of today's technology. I also find it interesting to use art as way to change narratives around technology. Two subjects that are only recently presented as one. Ramirez attempt to begin a conversation where women are full participants and users of technology, presenting a "new" perspective on who is capable to participate in such. Where majority of brown women are only imagined in roles of domestic labor Ramirez capitalizes on the capabilities of women to part take in technology.
