Hanging Out After School With New York City Students

This article is centered around Giraldo’s project known as “The After School Project”.  It starts by explaining the roots, motivation, and beginnings behind her project.  After months of Photographic documentation of her teen subjects in New York City, her project was recognized by Getty Images and she became an Getty Images Instagram grant finalist in 2015. The article also takes a deeper look at the story she is telling and to quote the author Jordan Teicher,  “it [The After School Project] looks anecdotally at the young people she comes across and the moments she witnesses that speak to the playfulness and, at times, utter seriousness of adolescence.” The article includes multiple images from Giraldo’s project.

A Playful Gaze at the Lives of Brooklyn’s Youth
