Virgen de Guadalupe- Alize Basulto

La Virgin de Guadalupe has been prominent in my household since I could last remember. She has been the symbol my mother and grand mother follow and pray to for the well being of their children. The Virgin symbolizes a mother and the love a mother carries for her children. My mother and grandmother often compared her love to her son to that of their love for us.

My grandmother is a firm believer of the Virgin, as a hispanic catholic women, she ensured we all grew up knowing of her and her capabilities to help and heal a mother with her children. It is a symbol and a life size picture that hangs on my grandmothers wall that greets me every time I enter her home, and it the last words out of my grandmothers mouth as I exit, "que dios y la virgin de Guadalupe te cuiden y acomopaƱen."

I am yet to be a mother and feel the sense of love my mother does for a child, but my aspiration is that when my time has come, I will be prepared and guided by my mother, grandmother and guided by La Virgin.
