2020 Olsen, Eric: Extra Credit- Attending the Mujeres de Maiz Show

On March 7th, I went with my sister and my partner to the 2020 Prophecy Manifested Show put together by Mujeres de Maiz. The event featured community work and creativity through a pop-up market with local vendors in the parking lot, live music and shows, and the gallery with artwork inside. After being a part of the installation process, it was really cool to see how the curators placed the works throughout the gallery and how the show all came together. While the majority of the show was painting, my favorite artworks were the photography, installation, and mixed media works and I even got to see a photo featured from our professor's Sor Juana series! Joining in commmunity and seeing a wide range of creative work from people who look like me was incredible. I don't have any photos of myself at the event, but I do have a screenshot of the tickets and a holographic skull sticker I got from a queer vendor there! Its now on my laptop and reads 'Resilience' on the bottom.
