Week 8: Artist Presented

This image stood out for my the most, by Natalia Anciso. This image shows families being separated at the border and hugging through the fences. It is so very interesting to see the colors in the image represented by the gates of the border. And the other image of a dull sad moment of separation between the families. Why are bright colors, usually representing happiness, depicting a very sad moment or are used to separate families. What's the happiness in this? I mean, I understand the dull colors the family members have, it's a sad moment and it makes sense.

The way I think about it is like this: the bright colors are like when someone is so baffled they don't know what to think. Have you ever seen someone laughing when everything is going wrong? This is sort of the same impression I get. The border in between is feeling mixed emotions because it's just doing it's job but at the same time separating families. The bright colors catch our attention and in all, represent a sad moment for families affected by this.
